Why am I not losing weight? Frequent mistakes
One of the eternal purposes that many people have is to lose weight, improve body composition or improve eating habits, but how to do it properly? Bad habits and food myths often interfere with our goals. What are the most frequent mistakes when wanting to lose weight? If you also ask yourself "why I don't lose weight", in this article we will explain what mistakes are usually made and how to solve them.
Think about diet and not about a change in habits
It is very common to take great care of the diet during the week and at the weekend to completely neglect to eat. Other people take the diet as a period of restrictions as if they were in prison for a time. Neither one nor the other is sustainable over time. The error starts with the "I go on a diet" approach. The thought should be "I am going to change my habits" , "I am going to learn to eat and enjoy this learning". In this way we will acquire all the changes that we make and thus our health will improve, our weight will drop and we will be able to maintain this weight loss.

Reduce calorie intake too much

Lots of people eat just vegetables for dinner with some protein or a bowl of fruit with yogurt. Making these changes does not lead us to a balanced diet, it is not healthy and it cannot be maintained over time, so failure is assured. If we eat too low, in addition to starving, our metabolism tends to slow down and go into "saving mode" . That is, we will spend fewer calories than we should, which will make losing weight increasingly difficult.
If we eat too little, our metabolism goes into "saving mode" and uses fewer calories.
Eliminate carbohydrates

When someone wants to lose weight, it is very common for them to remove bread, rice, pasta, potatoes or legumes from their diet. E l result is that anxiety is triggered. When eliminating complex carbohydrates we find that suddenly, our body asks us for sweets , so we do not eat pasta at lunch but we inevitably find ourselves having cookies, chocolate or any pastry.
Solution to the last two errors? Make a reduction in your total intake, without compromising any food group. One method that works very well is the plate method , an easy and visual resource that allows you to include the different food groups in all lunches and dinners with tighter proportions. The summary would be a large portion of vegetables (which would correspond to the look of a plate) a quarter of a plate for protein (legumes, meat, fish, eggs) and the other quarter of the plate we would dedicate to complex carbohydrates ( bread, rice, pasta) always enhancing whole grains.

Abusing detox smoothies and juices

It is common to consume juices, shakes and detox shakes daily as a compensatory method or even with the intention of purifying our body. But the reality is that when we consume food in liquid form, there is usually much more than you would eat in solid form , so in a juice we end up consuming 3 whole oranges without one of its most important components, its fiber, for which will satisfy us less and the amount of simple sugar will be excessive.
If we want to reduce calories and the intake of simple sugars we will not achieve it with this type of food. It is better to eat whole fruits. Plus, you don't need to detox, or compensate. If you eat well, your body will already be healthy and will follow its natural cleansing processes.
In addition, fruit and vegetables are very healthy, but if you do not consume protein and carbohydrates adequately, your diet will not be balanced.
Solution? Make an adequate intake of fruits and vegetables a day, encouraging them to be seasonal, along with the rest of the foods. Therefore, the general recommendation is to include a serving of vegetables in each main meal and at least 2-3 pieces of fruit a day.
When we consume food in liquid form, there is usually much more than you would eat in solid form.
Exercise without changing your diet

Another common thought is: "Since I exercise, I don't need to watch my diet too much." Although it is very beneficial and indeed necessary physical activity to maintain good physical and health condition with exercise alone you will not get lose weight. Exercise will help you lose weight more constantly, minimize the loss of muscle mass, improve your feeling of stress and your rest. But if you do it to compensate for "bad" calories, it won't work for you.
The solution would be to do physical exercise in addition to making changes and improvements in your diet to control your intake and thus lose the desired weight.

Follow a high-calorie diet

It is essential to eat healthily, but eating healthy or healthy food is not the same as eating to lose weight. C hen you want to lose weight, not only we make healthy eating but we have a caloric restriction maintained over time with portion control (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) according to the needs of each person. In this sense, we recommend you contact Adelaide Naturopath and Keto Coach Christina Ettore, She can guide you during this period of loss.
Do not eat fruit

A widespread myth is that fruit is fattening. We find a thousand excuses to do without fruit, but we must consider the following reflection: If we don't eat fruit, what do we drink? We generally snack on unhealthy foods instead of filling ourselves with fruit.
You have to eat fruit. It has fructose, a simple sugar, but as it is accompanied by fiber, this sugar will not behave like the sugar added to food or the one we add to coffee. Eat fruit every day whenever you feel like it, you can consume it between meals or for dessert, the important thing is to take 2-3 pieces a day.
No diet is "law" or "is the best"

- Not keeping track of what you eat and believing that just by eliminating carbohydrates, you will lose weight; (not eating enough calories or fat) on the contrary, it can soon lead to stagnation, low energy, bad results.
- To avoid having problems with your period or absences.- Take care of the size of the energy deficit that in general is not less than 30 kcal / fat-free mass, for this you must calculate your% of fat and macros, since these deficits can cause alterations hormonal factors in the menstrual cycle, which are not normal or healthy.
- Eliminate SALT, sodium: on the contrary, it is important to have an adequate intake of electrolytes, if your diet is made up of 80% food and not products (industrialized, labels) you would not have to be afraid of salt in your food, the The problem is when we abuse sodium in industrialized companies. As a tip, Keto Coach recommend using a rehydration drink when starting a ketogenic diet to take care that your electrolytes are balanced.

What is the virtual gastric band hypnosis method?

How many times have you considered losing weight? And how many others have you done a diet that you have abandoned due to the effort involved in shedding those extra kilos?
Have you ever raised that the causes are not only biological, that there must be psychological, emotional or unconscious causes that make you continue to eat disproportionately or compulsively?
Ask yourself if you really want to lose weight and if so, we can propose a new, revolutionary and effective method, it is the virtual gastric band with hypnosis.
A painless, risk-free and easy method, as we provide it to you.
What is the hypnosis virtual gastric band method?
Virtual gastric band is one the best solution with hypnosis for weight loss. As you have read well in the initial questions, and surely the answers have been many times referring to the first approach and regarding the second, I am sure that you have also thought about it at some time but you do not find a connection, that is, how could you imagine that it is not that You eat to eat, but many times you eat out of anxiety, out of frustration, out of disappointment, out of boredom, to comfort yourself etc ..., in a few words: You eat your emotions.
It is at this last point where clinical hypnosis does its job , since many behavior patterns, especially those related to food, are learned and automatic.
Through clinical hypnosis we access the subconscious and create a series of suggestions aimed at recreating a virtual gastric band operation that will allow the person to eat and feel satiety as if they had really operated on, but without the side effects that can produce a real operation, since many people do not know how to physically identify which is the limit of their satiety.
Therefore, by implanting the gastric band through clinical weight loss hypnosis, the brain acts in the same way as if it were actually implanted, since the mind believes it. You can avail gastric band hypnosis in Adelaide from professional who will help you with successful plan.
In the same way, we make a series of suggestions for each person in particular so that they begin to eat naturally, without forcing anything, in a healthy and balanced way, knowing when to stop and control for example when eating a chocolate that does not eat all the box.
On the other hand, and also through another series of suggestions or hypnotic programming, we make the person reduce or eliminate the desire that drives him to eat, since normally the food that he usually eats has many calories or sugar that later become fat and it is in extra kilos.
On the other hand, we create hypnotic suggestions to motivate people to move their body in any way, walking, exercising, but in such a way that these activities are carried out by people without that mental and physical effort that often involves them.
In some people, if necessary, we could find out through regressive clinical hypnosis if the causes of their overweight are related to some trauma or is the product of a childish behavior that they continue to carry out as compensation or refuge from what is really affecting them and not. resolves.
In short, both through the implantation of the virtual gastric band by hypnosis , and by issuing the specific suggestions for each patient, we can get people to eliminate those extra kilos in a definitive way since at the end of the treatment we teach them a self - hypnosis technique so that they themselves reinforce their new beliefs that they emit so much with food, their figure thus achieving maintenance over time.
TOO MUCH PAIN? THERE IS ANOTHER OPTION: ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
Regarding the world day of natural medicine that is celebrated this October 22, we want to tell you what alternative medicine is and when it can be a good option to treat or prevent some diseases from another perspective.First, let's clarify concepts. Depending on the geographic region, various terms are used; however, traditional medicine, Naturopathy or natural medicine and alternative medicine are summarized, by the World Health Organization, WHO, in the term traditional medicine.
FIGURES SUPPORTING ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
This type of medicine is used as an alternative for the treatment or prevention of diseases, for pain management and, of course, to improve your quality and lifestyle. According to the WHO , “80% of the world's population uses traditional medicine to meet their primary health care needs. Traditional therapy is based above all on the use of extracts or active principles of medicinal plants ”.
Documents from the Colombian Ministry of Health indicate that there are studies that assure that for some health conditions “the direct costs of using alternative medicine are lower than those of conventional medicine, and that its effectiveness can be greater and with less secondary effects ”, such as the one carried out by the Government of Peru and supported by the WHO Regional Office for the Americas.
On the other hand, data from the United States National Institute of Health concluded, in 1997, that “there is clear evidence that the treatment of certain symptoms with acupuncture needles is more effective and causes fewer side effects than conventional treatments. In Germany and the UK, 70% and 90%, respectively, of pain clinics use acupuncture ”.Acupuncture is just one of the therapies that are part of alternative medicine. Next, we explain the general concept of alternative medicine and each of the therapies. So you can learn and identify, together with your specialist doctor, which may be the best for your treatment.

Panic Attacks: Symptoms, Causes and Treatments
A panic attack is a sudden experience of intense fear or discomfort, accompanied by symptoms such as heart palpitations , a feeling of suffocation, or a smell in the chest.
Panic attacks often appear outside the home, although they can occur anywhere and at any time. Typically signs and symptoms increase and peak within 10 minutes. Most end within 20-30 minutes of their onset and rarely last more than an hour.
Isolated attacks can occur without worrying. However, when attacks occur frequently, panic disorder may be developing .

Classes / types
There are 3 kinds of panic attacks:
- Attack associated with situations: attacks associated with specific situations, such as riding a bus, train or going to busy places. They are common in specific phobias or social phobia.
- Unexpected attacks: they can occur unexpectedly in any situation or place.
- Situational predispositional attack: an attack is more likely to occur because it happened before in the same place. For example, not knowing if an attack will occur in a shopping center, even though it has happened before.
Symptoms
A panic attack includes a combination of the following signs and symptoms:
- Hyperventilation or little air.
- Palpitations of the heart
- Feeling of suffocation
- Feeling separated from the external environment.
- Sweat.
- Nausea or upset stomach.
- Numbness.
- Feeling cold or flushed
- Fear of dying, losing control, or going crazy.
- Feeling dizzy, light-headed, or fainting
- Discomfort or pain in the chest.
- Trembling or shaking

Symptoms of panic disorder
Without more complications or episodes you can experience an isolated panic attack. If you've only had one or two, you shouldn't have to worry. However, if these attacks occur frequently, panic disorder can develop. This features frequent panic attacks and major behaviour changes.
you may also interested in "Weight loss from Anxiety, Nerves, and Stress"
You can have panic disorder if:
- You often experience unanticipated attacks of panic.
- You are unnecessarily concerned about another attack of panic.
- You behave differently, like avoiding places you weren't afraid of before.
If you have panic disorder, the attacks can be costly emotionally; Although the attacks may last only a few minutes, the memory of them can be intense and can influence self-esteem and harm quality of life.
As it develops, these symptoms appear:
- Anticipatory anxiety: the expectation of potential attacks triggers the anxiety.
- Avoidance of places or situations: avoid situations or environments that were not feared before and that are not objectively dangerous. This avoidance may be based on the belief that the situation or location provoked a previous attack. You can also avoid places where it is difficult to escape or ask for help.
Causes
The type of emotional reactions that occur in panic attacks do not have a single cause, but several: biological, psychological, environmental and social.
The tendency to be nervous or tense can be hereditary, although your sense of control over the world (something learned), your environment and your social circumstances will also influence.
Biological factors
If your family has a tendency to "be nervous," you are more likely to inherit that trait. Not that there is a single gene that predisposes you to anxiety. Rather, the influence is due to a set of genes.
In other words, there are many genes that produce a tendency for you to be overly anxious. In addition, those genes will affect the development of your anxiety when you comply with a number of psychological, environmental and social factors.
Environmental factors
For example, it is known that adolescents who smoke more cigarettes are more likely to develop anxiety disorders as adults, especially generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
Psychological factors
The fear you feel in panic attacks can be the result of conditioning or learning. According to this model, in childhood or adulthood you would have developed an uncertainty about your ability to control and cope with events.
The feeling of lack of control is the most vulnerable factor to anxiety: you may feel that you will do poorly in a presentation or that you will fail a test no matter how hard you study.
There are many studies that support the influence of parental education on children's sense of control:
Overprotective parents, who do not let their children experience adversity, help children learn that they cannot control what happens.
Parents who encourage children's exploration of the world, parents who are responsive to their children's needs, predictable, and let them do things for themselves, foster the development of a sense of control.
Cognitive conditioning
It may be that during a real alarm you have a high sense of fear, and you have associated it with external signals (for example riding in a car) or internal signals (for example strong heartbeat) that occurred in the real situation.
In this way, when you feel the external or internal signals, you have the feeling of fear, although I do not know the actual dangerous situation.
For example, one day you have a car accident and you feel a strong fear. From then on, you can associate getting in the car with fear or getting in the car with a strong heartbeat.
This learning or conditioning can be difficult to separate, because the cues that trigger emotional fear responses can be unconscious. This association of panic attacks with internal or external signals is called learned alarms.
Social factors
Cultural or social customs, such as having to stand out at work, university or college can also contribute to the development of anxiety or panic attacks.
Different vital circumstances, such as exams, divorces or deaths of relatives act as stressors that can cause reactions such as panic attacks or headaches in you.
Panic attacks can also be triggered by medical conditions and other physical causes:
- Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland).
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
- Use of stimulants (amphetamines, cocaine, caffeine).
- Withdrawal of medication.
- Diagnosis
- Diagnostic criteria according to DSM-IV
- Temporary and isolated appearance of intense fear or discomfort, accompanied by four (or more) of the following symptoms, which start abruptly and reach their maximum expression in the first 10 minutes:
- Palpitations, heart jerks, or increased heart rate.
- Sweating
- Shaking or shaking.
- Feeling of choking or shortness of breath.
- Choking sensation.
- Chest tightness or discomfort.
- Nausea or abdominal discomfort.
- Unsteadiness, dizziness, or fainting.
- Derealization (feeling of unreality) or depersonalization (being separated from oneself).
- Fear of losing control or going crazy.
- Affraid to die.
- Paresthesia (numbness or tingling sensation).
- Chills or flushing
Treatments
Cognitive behavioral therapy is the most effective way to treat this disorder. It is based on modifying thought and behavior patterns for more adaptive ones.
To treat panic disorder, the strategy may focus primarily on education about the disorder and learning techniques:
Education
It is about teaching the person what happens and why it happens. Some aspects to teach are:
- What is anxiety.
- The adaptive value of anxiety.
- Components of physiological, cognitive and behavioral anxiety, and how they interact with each other.
Activation control techniques
The techniques to teach are:
- Diaphragmatic breathing: controlling breathing reduces physiological activation.
- Muscle Relaxation Training: Aims to reduce muscle tension and progressive muscle relaxation, yoga, autogenic training or meditation can be used.
Exposure techniques
- Exposure to internal stimuli: the goal is to expose the patient to the symptoms they fear so that they perceive that their automatic thoughts are not real, so that they get used to it and so that they learn to control the symptoms. It is done with several simple exercises that cause physiological changes similar to those of a panic attack.
- Exposure to external stimuli: the goal is exposure to places or situations that provoke anxiety. It is intended that the person gets used to and perceives these situations as normal or not catastrophic.
Cognitive restructuring techniques
The goal is to identify irrational catastrophic thoughts and change them to more positive interpretations.
Medication
Medication can be used temporarily to reduce some of the symptoms of panic disorder. However, by itself it does not solve the problem, it is recommended especially in the most severe cases and it is more effective when combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Medication includes:
- Antidepressants
- Benzodiazepines.
Pathophysiology
The physiological process of a panic attack can be understood as follows:
- First of all, fear appears from a stimulus.
- This leads to the release of adrenaline, which triggers the fight or flight response in which the person's body prepares for physical activity.
- This leads to increased heart rate (tachycardia), rapid breathing (hyperventilation), and sweating.
- Hyperventilation leads to a drop in carbon dioxide levels in the lungs and later in the blood.
- This causes changes in the pH of the blood (respiratory alkalosis or hypocapnia), which can cause symptoms such as tingling, dizziness, feeling faint or numbness.
- The release of adrenaline also causes vasoconstriction, resulting in less blood flow to the head, which causes dizziness and lightheadedness.
Some tips for panic attacks or disorder
Although treatment with Adelaide Naturopath is what makes the biggest difference, there are certain indications that you can carry out yourself:
- Learn about panic: Knowing about fear and attacks can decrease symptoms and increase your sense of control. You will learn that the sensations and feelings you have during an attack are normal and that you are not going crazy.
- Avoid caffeine or smoking: In people who are susceptible, tobacco and caffeine can cause panic attacks. Therefore, it is best to avoid smoking, coffee, and other caffeinated beverages. It is also necessary to review the chemical compounds of drugs that may contain stimulants.
- Learn to control your breathing: Hyperventilation causes many sensations that occur during a panic attack. On the other hand, deep breathing can lessen symptoms. By learning to control your breathing, you develop a skill you can use to calm yourself before feeling anxious.
- Practice relaxation techniques: Activities such as progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, or yoga stimulate the body's relaxation response, the opposite of the panic and anxiety response.
What is the nutritional traffic light of food?
Have you noticed that on the food labels of many products there are a series of colors (green, yellow and orange) depending on which nutrients?

This is called the nutritional traffic light , and it is a very useful measure to be able, at a quick glance, to know how to discriminate whether a food is recommended or not. The "food traffic light" was a measure carried out in Great Britain and, given its success, we have also imported into our country. While it is true what, not all foods meet it.
www.renewhealththerapies.com.au
Nutritional information of foods
More and more people are interested in knowing what they eat, movements such as conscious eating or Real fooding , are promoting an exercise in consciousness and that we ask ourselves if our shopping list is really healthy as you might think.
However, there are mainly two problems: lack of time and lack of knowledge. We can have the intention of eating better and for this, when going to the supermarket, read each nutritional label one by one. The problem is evident, we cannot spend 3 hours making the purchase and many times we do not know how to interpret the data we read.
This is why the nutritional traffic light is such a useful measure. Without being nutritionists or having advanced training in food, we can choose well what we buy. This has been created around the average consumption values that are defined by the WHO.
I put an example :
Imagine that we go shopping and we find a new product that interests us, and how we are aware of the issue of food, we read the nutritional label. We see that it says that it has 5 grams of sugar per 100 grams or serving. And then we ask ourselves, is that okay? Is it a lot or a little?
HOW THE NUTRITIONAL TRAFFIC LIGHT WORKS
As I mentioned earlier, the nutritional traffic light is designed based on the values designated by the WHO as recommended.
So, the green color means that the food has a low amount of that nutrient, yellow , which has a medium amount, and amber or orange , that the product exceeds the average amounts of a nutrient recommended by the WHO.
So, we must, as far as possible, look for foods where green predominates. Which does not mean that we can freely abuse this product, if not that it is a more recommended product.
The reason the color red does not appear is because there is no prohibition on any food. A balanced diet includes the idea that there are no forbidden foods, but not recommended. The idea is that we do not abuse them, although from time to time we want to treat ourselves.
Food labels on products and food
The food labels give us much more information than that provided by the traffic light food. That is, the nutritional traffic light helps us to make a quick discrimination, however, there are many things that we must take into account, such as the composition of the food, the oils with which it has been made or the additives it contains.
The nutritional traffic light is designed for 5 specific characteristics about the nutritional information of foods.
SATURATED FATS
Saturated fats are natural fats, which does not mean that they are healthy. They are what we can find in some meats (red meat) and other foods. It is not convenient to abuse them.
TRANS FAT
Trans fats are what we find in ultra-processed foods and are due to the use of refined and unhealthy oils. Its consumption should be minimal.
SALT
Salt is another of the nutrients that the nutritional traffic light and the WHO understand that we must regulate its consumption. How everything, in small measure is not bad for health.
SUGAR
Sugar is one more micronutrient. Although it has been demonized, the problem with sugar is not its use, but its abuse. We must take it in the corresponding measures, since it is an essential energy source.
CALORIES
Calories are not a nutrient, but rather they determine the energy density of a food. The main reason to control them is to prevent being overweight.
Food traffic light and WHO
Throughout the article I have told you several times that the food traffic lights set the colors (green, yellow and amber) based on the values defined by the WHO. However, it happens that many foods today do not yet carry this color classification.
Next, I am going to share with you a table with these values, in case it happens that by consulting food product labels you realize that they do not carry the traffic light application and you also want to know if the nutritional values are adequate.
